Virginia Tech campus, the site of the deadliest peacetime shooting incident by a single gunman in United States history, on or off a school campus is once again in the news. The latest incident involves 2 students, Heidi Childs, 18, and David Metzler, 19, promising students who were active in Campus Crusade for Christ, were found fatally shot Thursday morning in a national park about 15 miles from campus. Police have no suspects at this time.
The first and most notorious incident happened in April 16, 2007 when a clinically depressed student, Seung-Hui Cho, killed 32 people and wounded many others before committing suicide.
And in January 21, 2009, Yang Xin a 22 year old student who had just arrived from Beijing was decapitated with a kitchen knife in a cafe on campus. Fellow student Zhu Haiyang, 25 is charged with the murder and is awaiting trial for first degree murder.
It’s very sad what has happened and I don’t know what it is but there’s something not entirely right with that place.
